Applicant must be natural, adopted, or step child or spouse of one of the following who has been killed or permanently disabled in duty-related, non-self-inflicted incidents: law enforcement officer; firefighter; Department of Community Punishment employee; state highway, forestry, correction, or park employee; EMT; wildlife enforcement officer; or emergency services worker. Dependent child applicant may be no older than 23; no age restriction for spouse, but must not be remarried. Award is for tuition and room and is for up to 8 semesters. Applicant must be Arkansas resident for at least six months. Application deadlines are August 1 for fall; December 1 for spring/winter; May 1 for summer I; and July 1 for summer II.
