The Lindbergh Foundation offers research grants for those working on projects in the areas of environmental science, aviation, natural resources/conservation, education or health sciences.
Qualifications
Grants are given for projects that "foster the environment and keep the planet in balance. These projects should demonstrate balance between technological advancements and environmental preservation."
Amount
Up to $10,580. The funds are meant directly for the project proposed and cannot be used for tuition.

Qualifications
Be a sophomore or junior majoring in the natural sciences, engineering, or mathematics. Students who plan to study medicine are eligible for a Goldwater Scholarship only if they plan a research career rather than a career as a medical doctor in a private practice. Need to have at least a B average and be in the top 25% of your class. Must be a U.S. citizen, resident alien, or United States national. It is expected that students selected as scholars will pursue advanced degrees.

Minority Fellowships are awarded to minority undergraduates who are enrolled in U.S. colleges or universities who have completed at least one year of undergraduate study and who have academic interests in physical or natural science, mathematics, engineering, or marine policy. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the United States. Minority groups included for consideration in this particular program include African American or Black; Asian American; Chicano, Mexican American, Puerto Rican or other Hispanic; Native American, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians. Minority Fellowships may be awarded for a ten- to twelve-week period in the summer or for a semester during the academic year, and may be renewed the following year.

The Science Policy Internship provides qualified individuals in the agronomic, crop, soil sciences, and related disciplines with a hands-on learning experience in the science policy arena. The intern will work closely with the ASA-CSSA-SSSA Director of Science Policy in Washington DC, monitoring and analyzing agricultural, natural resources, and environmental legislation, attending and participating in Congressional/Agency hearings and briefings, assisting in the preparation of position papers, directing the Societies' grassroots advocacy activities, and communicating with members of the Societies. The internship offers flexible start and end dates and can be for three to six months.
Qualifications
Applicants: (1) must have completed the first semester of their sophomore year by January 15, 2008 in agronomy, crops, soil science, or a closely related discipline; (2) are required to be a U.S. citizen; (3) must have a strong interest in science policy; and (4) are required to be a member of ASA, CSSA or SSSA.
Amount
The internship carries a stipend of up to $1,000 per month, plus living expenses of up to $500 per month, to be negotiated based on experience, time frame, and need. The intern is responsible for health insurance and travel expenses to and from Washington DC.
